Our Programs

Transforming lives through education and community development since 1977

Education

QCDO’s education programs are currently available to all children of the Quitman County School District as well as to children in public schools in surrounding counties. The programs offer a caring environment that will help children prepare for school and helps to foster interest from parents in his/her child’s education.
Quitman County Community School Alliance
Through the NEA Foundation's Community Schools Initiative, QCDO transforms local schools into comprehensive resource hubs that connect students and families with essential resources, learning opportunities, and community support.
Quitman County Community Impact Coalition
A cradle-to-career initiative that provides Quitman County youth with equitable access to resources and supportive environments that nurture their holistic development and long-term success.
University Assisted Community School
In partnership with Coahoma Community College, our community school serves as a neighborhood center that educates, engages, and supports students, families, and the community while addressing local needs.

Civic Engagement

Quitman County Development Organization actively supports voter education, including education regarding democracy, and voter registration drives. An example is the "Rock the Vote" event that has now taken place twice at the Madison S. Palmer High School and once at the Quitman County Middle School. We've been successful in assisting with getting age ready students registered to vote as well as assisting with voter education at the middle school level.

Housing and Development

QCDO has a long history developing, managing, and rehabilitating affordable housing in the region. The organization manages affordable housing and properties in the county to assist families in need. QCDO fosters safer, healthier and more vibrant neighborhoods and partners with community leaders and residents to improve safety, community development and access to green space in the community.
Invest in a better future for Quitman County
Every donation strengthens our community, supporting education programs, affordable housing development, and civic engagement that empowers residents to thrive.
